Keep Scarborough Tidy

T&C Cleaning Services LTD are back in the front line action with the Army Cadet Force Scarborough.

The team spent the evening doing a litter pick across North Bay Scarborough and the open air theater, assisting Keep Scarborough Tidy and also the Army Cadet Detachment Scarborough.

It was quite an eye-opener the amount litter left behind on our beaches, wooded areas and pedestrian walk ways but with that, it's a great opportunity for the Army cadets and T&C Cleaning Services LTD to do something positive for our community it's also a good promotion of team work and our new relationship with our company with the Army Cadet Force.

I have to say it did get very competitive on whom could collect the most, and as much as some of our staff wanted to empty waste bins to fill their sacks, this was simply cheating!

But why is it important to remove the litter from our local beeches?

  1. Wildlife Protection: Litter can harm marine life, including birds, fish, and sea turtles, which may ingest or become entangled in debris.
  2. Ecosystem Health: Trash disrupts natural habitats and can lead to the degradation of ecosystems, affecting the balance of local flora and fauna.
  3. Water Quality: Litter can contribute to water pollution, affecting the health of marine environments and the quality of water for recreational use.
  4. Human Health: Debris can pose risks to beachgoers, including sharp objects or hazardous materials, and polluted water can lead to health issues.
  5. Aesthetic Value: Clean beaches are more enjoyable for visitors and can boost local tourism, benefiting the economy.
  6. Community Responsibility: Cleaning up beaches fosters a sense of community and encourages stewardship of natural resources.

Overall, keeping beaches clean is essential for the environment, wildlife, and human enjoyment.
